University of Dallas Literary Program

Arete: An Introduction to the Classics engages students in the questions of excellence and the noble life by studying selections borrowed from UD’s Core Curriculum. Activities include classroom film screenings, an outing to Shakespeare in the Park, a visit to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, and so much more. In this intensive two-week program, students experience life as residents on UD’s Irving campus.

The benefits of this program are enormous. Students comment on their newfound ability to speak articulately, to defend their positions and ideas, and to write capably and clearly. Moreover, Arete shapes them intellectually, professionally and socially. Living for two weeks in a dorm environment adapts students to college life and circumstances: They learn to respect others' space and time, to live in community, and to attend class on a regular schedule.

Application deadline is March 1st
